New to Sheepdog Trialing?

Here are some descriptions of classes that will be held at the Bluegrass Classic.

Open

Open is a sanctioned class through the USBCHA. It is open to all handlers. This class has the longest outrun then has lift, fetch and drive, cross-drive, pen and shed.

Nursery

The Nursery class shall consist of an outrun (approximately 250 yards), a lift, a fetch, a full drive and a pen. Nursery shall be held in accordance with USBCHA rules and sanctioning.

Open Ranch

The Open Ranch class shall consist of an outrun (approximately 250 yards), a lift, a fetch, a full drive and a pen. There will be a time limit of 6-7 minutes. This class is open to any handler with a dog that has never competed in a class higher than Open Ranch with its current handler, excluding Nursery, or Open with any other handler.

Pro-Novice

The Pro-Novice class shall consist of an outrun (approximately 200 yards), a lift, a fetch, a drive through at least one set of panels and a pen. There will be a time limit of 4-5 minutes. This class is open to any handler with a dog that has never competed in a class higher than Pro-Novice with its current handler, excluding Nursery, or Open Ranch with any other handler. Pro Novice handlers may enter additional dog(s) in Novice-Novice or Open Ranch. Handlers may not enter dogs in all 3 classes: Novice-Novice, Pro-Novice & Open Ranch.

Novice-Novice

The Novice-Novice class shall consist of an outrun (approximately 100-150 yards), a lift, a fetch, a wear through at least one set of panels, and a pen. There will be a time limit of 3-4 minutes. This class is open to novice handlers with any dog that has never competed in a class higher than Novice-Novice with its current handler or Pro-Novice with any other handler. Novice-Novice handlers may not compete in the Open Ranch class.
